Nit-Enz Organic Shampoo Application Guide
VERY
IMPORTANT:
The
correct and thorough application of Nit-Enz Organic Shampoo
is absolutely crucial to the success of the head lice treatment.
Follow the steps below for best results.
-
Apply
a test patch of shampoo on the back of the neck and leave for 5
minutes. Discontinue use if irritation occurs. Through out the
application take care to avoid contact with the eyes. If contact
occurs rinse thoroughly with water.
-
Wet
the scalp and hair with warm water and pull back away from the face.
-
Squirt
Nit-Enz onto the palm of your hand and smear the shampoo from the
hair line above the forehead backwards towards the back of the head.
Repeat again for each side above and behind the ears working the
shampoo back towards the back of the head. Imagine you are herding
the head lice away from the face towards the back of the head and
neck.
-
Use
your fingers to massage Nit-Enz shampoo down onto the scalp,
beginning at the hairline and working backwards towards the back of
the head. Ensure the shampoo thoroughly covers every bit of the
scalp including behind the ears. Gently check the folds behind the
ears to ensure no head lice are hiding there.
-
Apply
more shampoo to the back of the head and massage into the scalp
working your way downwards towards the neck. Check the neck to make
sure head lice are not leaving the scalp.
-
Smother
all of the nit eggs with Nit-Enz and they will go white which means
they will no longer hatch. Head lice feed off the scalp and lay
their eggs as close to the scalp as possible. Concentrate on
smothering the scalp, and the hair within 5cm of the scalp.
-
Apply
Nit-Enz to the rest of the hair and work through with your fingers
ensuring it is fully coated and bundle up into a shower cap.
-
Ensure
the shower cap elastic sits flat on the skin to seal in the pine
vapour. Make sure it covers the ears and the whole hairline
including the nape of the neck. Double check to ensure no head lice
have escaped onto the neck or shoulders.
-
Leave
Nit-Enz Organic Shampoo in for at least 20 minutes.
-
Comb
out tangles and thoroughly run a nit comb through the hair from
scalp to hair tips while over a basin. Wash away extracted head
lice and eggs. Rinse the hair thoroughly with warm water and
condition as normal.
-
Section
off the hair while still wet and comb thoroughly with a fine tooth
nit comb from scalp to hair tips. Dispose of head lice and nit eggs
pulled out on the nit comb. Dip the contaminated nit comb into a
container of warm water with a squirt of Nit-Enz in it. Dry off with
a tissue between each run of the comb until no more head lice or
eggs can be found.
-
Repeat
this process twice more on alternate days. Ie: leave one day, repeat
next day.
-
To
permanently avoid re-infestation continue using Nit-Enz Organic Shampoo as a normal shampoo at least twice a week. Leave in
for at least five minutes and condition as normal. Head lice eggs
hatch every 7 days but ongoing use of Nit-Enz (as directed) breaks
the head lice life cycle and prevents re-infestation.
Nit-Enz Head Lice
Repellent Hair Gel and Hair Spray
- The
most effective way to use our Head Lice Repellent Hair Gel is to smother it
between your hands first and then run it through the hair ensuring complete
coverage of all layers, including the scalp.
- Complete coverage is also
required for maximum results with our Head Lice Repellent Hair Spray. Suggestions for achieving saturation are
segmenting the hair, spraying each area & brushing through from scalp to
tip. Try tipping your head upside down
to spray under the hair.
- Any
area that is not completely covered with a Nit-Enz Head Lice Repellent product
is vulnerable to re-infestation. It is
important to re-apply repellents after swimming, getting wet or excessive
sweating as efficacy can be compromised due to dilution of the
product.
- We
recommend tying up longer hair when ever in contact with others that may be
infested.
PLEASE NOTE:
Nit-Enz
has observed head lice very much alive more than 24 hours after removal
from a human host! If re-infestation is an issue all possible sources should
be investigated (friends and family, school environment etc) and all linen,
hats, hairbrushes etc that have had direct contact should be washed & dried
in a hot dryer. We strongly recommend
adding a squirt of Nit-Enz Organic Shampoo to the wash for added
protection.
